Auditions and Competitions

TMTA STATE AUDITIONS*           

Auditions are held each year on Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with State Conference.  Auditions begin at local level and continue to state.

Elementary Piano auditions will be on Saturday. All others will be on Sunday.

Senior High

• SOLO:  Brass, Organ, Percussion, Piano, Jazz Piano, Strings, Voice, and Woodwinds.
  • FEE:  $30.00
• CONCERTO:  Brass, Percussion, Piano, Strings, Woodwinds, and Chamber Music.
  • FEE: $30.00 / person
• CHAMBER MUSIC:  Piano Duet (one piano, four hands), Piano Duo (two pianos), Instrumental Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, and Mixed Ensemble.
  • FEE:  $15.00 / person

Junior High

• SOLO:  Brass, Percussion, Piano, Jazz Piano, Strings, and Woodwinds.
  • FEE: $25.00
• CONCERTO:  Brass, Percussion, Piano, Strings, and Woodwinds.
  • FEE:  $25.00 / person
• CHAMBER MUSIC:  Piano Duet (one piano, four hands), Piano Duo (two pianos), Instrumental Ensemble, and Mixed Ensemble.
  • FEE:  $12.50 / person

Elementary

Adult (Held in the Fall)

• CONCERTO: Brass, Percussion, Piano, Strings, and Woodwinds.
  • FEE:  $35.00 / person
• CHAMBER MUSIC:  Piano Duet (one piano, four hands), Piano Duo (two pianos), Instrumental Ensemble, and Mixed Ensemble.
  • FEE:  $17.50 / person

* Teachers are encouraged to accompany their students needing an accompanist or provide one.

MTNA Student Performance Competitions

Junior Performance

• Age: 11–14 as of January 1
• Competitions: Brass, Piano, String and Woodwind
• Entry Fee: $80†

Senior Performance

• Age: 15–18 as of January 1
• Competitions: Brass, Piano, Piano Duet (one piano/four hands) String, Voice and Woodwind
• Entry Fee: $110†

Young Artist Performance

• Age: 19–26 as of January 1
• Competitions: Brass, Piano, String, Voice and Woodwind
• Entry Fee: $120†

Chamber Music Performance

• Age: Average age of ensemble members must be 18–26 as of January 1
• Ensemble size: 3–6 players
• Ensemble instrumentation: any combination of brass, piano, string and wind instruments. Ensembles with piano only are not permitted.
• Entry Fee: $120† 

Member Teachers

Current active membership dues for MTNA must be paid on or before August 31, 2007. Teachers may enter students either (1) in the state where the student has permanent residence or (2) in the state where the instruction takes place. MTNA members are not required to be members of the state in which the student is entered.

An MTNA collegiate member must pay active membership dues to enter students in the competitions.
